Sam fourth in LWC2018 ski
Tasmanians performed impressively in the Life Saving World Championships in Adelaide last week. Burnie brothers Sam and Tom Norton left nothing to chance in their heats and semis to make it through to the final of the Open Mens Ski.
Racing the best in the world, Sam and Tom started strongly, Sam in equal first off the beach with Tom on his heels. However both were checked markedly as they negotiated the surf, being pushed back to around sixth and eighth respectively as they approached the cans. Heading home Sam made up some considerable ground sprinting to the finish against friend McKenzie Hynard. It went to a judges decision and third place was given to McKenzie Hynard. Tom finished strongly in 8th position. Well done Sam and Tom on another impressive performance on the world stage.
Sam is an ambassador for the Tasmanian Surf League and will be competing in the first event to be held at West Beach Burnie, Sunday December 9th, 2018. This is an exciting new format based on the successful Ocean 6 Series.
